Advisory Council

The Advisory Council is a group of important community members or leaders in their respective fields who assist the Coosa Riverkeeper staff in carrying out their mission by providing support and expertise when called upon.

  • Amy Badham– Director of Service Learning and Undergraduate Research at UAB
  • Sam Bennett– Project Manager, Tech Entrepreneur & Avid Fisherman
  • Nelson Brooke – Black Warrior Riverkeeper and Alabama Rivers Alliance “River Hero”
  • Dr. Bryan Burgess – Alabama Rivers Alliance “River Hero” and founding Coosa Riverkeeper Board member
  • Keith Caton- Mt Laurel Farm, manager
  • Lonnie Carden – Coosa Outdoor Center/ Southern Trails, owner and Alabama Rivers Alliance “River Hero”
  • Carson Dabbs- manager of River Rocks Landing

  • Matthew Lewis- author of Fly Fishing for Redeye Bass: An Adventure Across Southern Waters, Presidential Graduate Research Fellow at Auburn University working towards a PhD in genetics.

  • Michael Steinberg, Ph.D.– Associate Professor in New College/Geography at The University of Alabama
  • Michael Strickland– Attorney, Past Vice President of Coosa Riverkeeper
  • Heather Tinsley, Ph.D- Associate Professor of Biology at the University of Montevallo. She holds a B.S. in Molecular Biology from Auburn University and a Ph.D. in Pharmacology and Toxicology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s School of Medicine
